12V Battery Charger 6Amp
Part SMA1000-0001: a 12v battery charger 6amp (12 V DC) for standby generator sets.
About this part
Most standby generators that fail to start do so because of a flat battery or a cold engine. A float charger keeps the starting battery topped up between runs, and a water jacket heater keeps the engine warm so it can take load quickly.
Features
- Maximum Voltage 90 to 280V AC
- AC Frequency is either 50 or 60 Hertz
- Maximum Input Current is 2 Amps
- Efficiency is greater than 82
- Charging Current 4 to 6 Amps
- Factory Charging Current 6 Amps
- Maximum Power is 85 Watts
- Minimum Voltage is 7.5 Volts
When to replace it
- Generator fails to crank after standing
- Battery flat after a few weeks
- Slow starts in cold weather
Before you order
Match the charger voltage to the battery bank (12 V or 24 V). Heaters must be connected by an electrician and fitted with a thermostat.
Match the number stamped on the part you are removing, or the number in your engine or alternator manual, before ordering. Part numbers are shown for reference so the right replacement can be identified.
Questions
Do I need a battery charger if the engine has an alternator?
Yes, on a standby set. The engine only charges while it runs, and a standby set may sit for weeks.
