An automatic changeover switch is an essential component to ensure a smooth changeover from the main power source to the back up power source. We cannot properly run our businesses without electricity. An interruption in the power supply can cause havoc and disrupt the entire business day.
Fortunately, most businesses have an alternate source of electrical power. A generator is a much appreciated and welcome source of electrical power when the main supply is interrupted. However, the generator needs to be switched on to continue to provide the much needed electrical supply. This is where an automatic changeover switch is an important and necessary component.
What is an automatic changeover switch?
An automatic changeover switch, as the name suggests, automatically changes the power supply from the mains to the back up system without needing an operator to do so. When the power comes back on, the switch automatically shuts off.
An automatic changeover switch is also an ideal component if your business’ generator is in a hard-to-reach location. It can be inconvenient and possibly dangerous to try and locate the on switch for the generator, especially in the dark.
