Description
The AS540 is an analogue, 2-phase sensing, self-excited automatic voltage regulator incorporating an interface for the optional auxiliary winding for enhanced motor starting performance and sustained short circuit current. The Stamford AS540 Automatic Voltage Regulator enables superior control with features like: Voltage Control, Stability Control, Under-Frequency Roll-Off and Over-Excitation Control. Power input voltage is 95-265V AC 1 phase and Frequency 50-60 Hz nominal. Power output voltage is 82V dc @ 200V ac input.

Benefits of using the AS540 Automatic Voltage Regulator
The AVR provides closed loop control by sensing the alternator output voltage at the main stator windings and adjusting the exciter stator flied strength. Voltage induced in the exciter rotor, rectified by the rotating diodes, magnetises the rotating main field which induces voltage in the main stator windings. A self excited AVR receives power from the alternator output terminals or a special auxiliary winding in the main stator winding.
